Jay Warren serves at the Director of Communication and Legislative Affairs for the City of Arlington, Texas, and an adjunct professor at Texas Christian University. During his tenure with the City, Warren has overseen the creation and launch of a new municipal brand, two city-wide websites and a new TV studio. Warren and his team’s work have been recognized with more than 100 state and national awards for their video production, innovation, strategic planning, media relations, branding, graphic design and website design. In 2019, his team was awarded the inaugural Sharman Stein Storytelling Changemakers Award from Bloomberg Philanthropies’ What Works Cities/Results for America and in 2021 his team was honored with a Lone Star Regional Emmy for its FY2020 budget.

Prior to his work in municipal communication, Warren spent 20 years in broadcast news, the last 15 at the NBC affiliate in Roanoke, Virginia, where he was the primary anchor and senior political reporter. While there, Jay covered the major stories impacting Virginia and the nation including the 9-11 attacks, the shooting massacre at Virginia Tech and Queen Elizabeth II’s visit to Richmond and Williamsburg. His work has been recognized with a Walter Cronkite Award for Individual Achievement, Virginia AP Reporter of the Year and a national Peabody Award. 

Warren is the board president for the Texas Municipal Information Officers Association (TAMIO), board chair for the Arlington Museum of Art and a board member for TCU’s Certified Public Communicator Program.
