Laura Denise Garcia serves as the digital media coordinator for the City of McAllen and has been with the city for more than 6 years. In her current role with the Office of Communications she manages the city’s social media accounts with a combined following of more than 135,000. Laura is also responsible for content creation to be featured on the McAllen Cable Network and takes part in special event planning for the city’s signature events as well as assists with emergency operations. Prior to coming on board with the city, she worked as a reporter for a weekly newspaper, the Valley Town Crier. She is a member of the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers.

The Office of Communications has won numerous awards at TAFE, IFEA, TAFE and TAMIO. Laura is a graduate of the University of Texas Pan American with a degree in journalism.
