Sue Burness serves the City of Dunedin, Florida, as Director of Communications effective March 15, 2021.

Burness comes to Dunedin from the City of Dublin, Ohio, where she was Director of Communications and Public Information. Burness joined the City of Dublin in January of 2011. Burness served as the strategic communications/marketing advisor for the City Manager and Leadership team. She led city-wide marketing, strategic communications, messaging, issues management, media relations, crisis communications, graphic design, digital communications, video production, photography and brand alignment for external and internal audiences.

Prior to joining the City of Dublin, Burness developed a strong background in public relations and advertising. She served as vice president for two marketing firms in the Columbus Region before launching her own business, Burness Media Partners. Burness has also served as a board member for Visit Dublin Ohio and Dublin AM Rotary.

Burness began her career in central New York working for some of the largest dairy marketing and processing associations in the Northeast. For nearly a decade, Sue managed corporate publications, member relations, media relations and special events for New York dairy associations.

Burness received a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism/Public Relations from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. She is a graduate of LEAD NY and Leadership Dublin. She and her husband Jim have three daughters and have recently relocated to Florida from Ohio.
