Vernon is a government and communications professional who manages communication strategies to increase transparency, efficiency and awareness by enhancing the channels of communication.

As Executive Director of Communications, Vernon serves as the principal advisor to El Paso County, Colorado elected officials and staff on all matters relating to strategic communication, including policy formulation, media relations, social media, community engagement, internal communication, visual information, communication planning, contingency/crisis response, special events planning, security and policy review and resource management elements. 

Vernon holds a bachelors and masters degree from the University of West Florida in Communications and Public Administration respectively. Vernon is a Marine Corps veteran and served in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
